| The floor of Nippori subway station displays this interesting shape which resembles Cassini Ovals (the locus of a point for which the product of the disatnces from two fixed foci is constant). They have an interesting equation, and if one changes the parameters one can obtain, as particular cases, the lemniscate or two separate ovals. The name Cassini honors an Italian astronomer, see next page. |
